Changes in Transportation
School Policy change: Teachers are not to accept transportation change requests over the phone or via email. If you plan to pick up a child that normally rides the bus or change the way your child gets home, you must send a written note (signed and dated). I cannot accept an email during the instructional day for a transportation change. You may e-mail or FAX (no later than 1:30 pm) a signed request to the school specifically stating the change you are requesting to [email protected] or (252) 355-0284. This is school policy and no exceptions will be made.
Food and Celebrations
Working Snack
Your child will be allowed to bring a HEALTHY SNACK to school to eat during our classroom snack time. Instruction will not stop during this time and students must continue to work. Therefore, I ask you to be mindful of the types of items you are sending. No junk food, candy, or soda is acceptable! Also, we are a peanut-free room so food items that contain peanuts are not allowed within the classroom. We will have our working snack in the morning before lunch to keep our brain juices flowing! Students are allowed to keep water on their desk throughout the day.
Parties
Our class is permitted to have a maximum of two parties during the year (winter break, end of year).
Both parties will take place after our scheduled lunchtime.
Birthdays
If you are interested in having a SMALL birthday celebration for your child in school, I ask that you inform me at least a week in advance. You are invited to eat lunch with your student on his/her special day and/or provide store-bought goodies for the class during snack time. It is school policy that any snacks/goodies must be eaten in the classroom, and not during lunchtime. All food must be commercially prepared. Please keep in mind that we have students with peanut allergies, so items must be approved before being given to students.
